| 8th Annual Ahn’s Memorial Run |
| "On Sunday August 15th, 2010 the Freedom Riders USA and several local Veterans Organizations are sponsoring the 8th Annual Ahn’s Memorial Run - Vets Helping Vets, which will be hosted by Preston VFW Post 9452, in memory USMC Cpl. Kemaphoom "Ahn" Chanawongse, a young Waterford native, who was killed in action, in Iraq, on March 23rd, 2003. The Freedom Riders USA sponsor this event to honor his memory and the memory of all of Connecticut’s Fallen Heroes." View the flyer and the donation letter. |
| Town Hall Meeting |
| There will be a Town Hall style meeting held Thursday August 12, 2010 at 6:30PM at Veterans of Foreign Wars Kari-Hill Post 5849 by Congressman Joe Courtney. This meeting will be to discuss new benefits and programs recently passed by Congress. The flyer is here. |
| Flag Retirement Ceremony |
| June 14, 2010 - "Approximately 50 people attended a flag retirement ceremony at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2212 in Taftville. The ceremony was conducted by Boy Scout Troop 80 and led by Second Class Scout Zack Stevens as the Master of Ceremonies." Pictures and the rest of the story can be found here. |
| The Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project |
| The Project will have a 4 day event at Riverside Park in Hartford on August 5-8. The event needs volunteers to help out and fans to cheer the participants on. The participants are those that are suffering permanent disabilities as a result of injuries received while in military service to their country. You can download the event flyer in PDF format here.
